Day Itinerary

  1. Departure from La Mariscal at 7:15 AM (corner of Reina Victoria and Foch streets) / Plaza San Blas at 7:30 AM.

  2. Arrival at Cotopaxi National Park entrance (3,200 m / 10,498 ft).

  3. Brief introduction to the park’s volcanic features, flora, and fauna.

  4. Drive up to the parking lot at 4,600 m (15,091 ft).

  5. Hiking to the mountain refuge located at 4,864 m (15,748 ft).

  6. Descent back to the parking area.

  7. Optional downhill biking to Limpiopungo Lagoon (3,850 m / 12,631 ft).

  8. Lunch stop near the National Park.

  9. Return to Quito. (Travelers on a 2-day program continue to Machachi for overnight stay.)
